Gas Log Sets
Our gas logs are built by the R.H.
Peterson Company (RHP). Once again, we choose to offer only the
best quality products available. RHP has been the industry
leader for over fifty years. We have had great success with
their products as they have given our customers years of
dependable service.
Gas logs are not intended to supplement
the heating needs of the home; one would choose an insert if
they were hoping to do so. Gas logs may generate some radiant
energy, but since they damper is open and the glass doors must
be opened when burning the gas logs, the convective heat loss
may negate the radiant heat gain.
Some would look to "ventless" gas log
sets, but our experience is that the odor and moisture with such
products create unacceptable conditions. We do not offer "ventless"
products.
We have installed gas log sets from 12"
lengths up to 60" lengths. Sizing is determined by the
dimensions of the fireplace. There are many styles of logs and
burners from which to choose.
When installing gas logs we are required
by code to block the damper partially open so in order to
minimize heat loss, we are required to also install glass doors.
The only other option is the Flue Sentinel.

The Flue Sentinel
This product allows an exemption from the
requirement to install glass doors with gas log sets. It is a
mechanical chimney top damper that is interlocked with the gas
log valve. When the logs are off the damper is tightly sealed.
When you switch your gas logs "on" the damper automatically
opens until you switch them "off". We have professional
electricians that connect the necessary power and interlocks.

A cold flue does
not vent properly upon start-up of your fireplace. At start-up, there is cold air in the
flue blocking the warm air and products of combustion
from venting through the chimney, and forces it into the
living space through the firebox. |
Flue Sentinel
ensures a warm flue and enhances proper ventilation. At start-up, there is warm air in the
flue. Gas combustion products are properly vented up
through the flue, escaping through chimney. |
